The Master Alchemist

Its been so long since i wrote. I tried yesterday and i tried today, to no avail. Not that i have nothing to say... i do have lots of thoughts... but what lacks, is the mood. And i persist with myself... there should be something that amazes and inspires me... yes... the dreams, desires and the feelings of a man that continues to teach one thousand years after he walked on this earth!

Have you read poems that reflect the deepest longings of the human heart as it searches for the divine? Jalal al-Din Mohammad Balkhi, popularly known as Rumi, wrote, celebrating love. Rumi's thoughts, that he wrote in Farsi as poems are timeless. What he wrote seven centuries ago is still relevant today and will continue to be for eons to come.

It is true that today we can read Rumi's poems in English, but can you imagine, the choice of words, the beauty of its sound and meaning in Farsi?

The Alchemy of Love

You come to us
from another world

From beyond the stars
and void of space.
Transcendent, Pure,
Of unimaginable beauty.
Bringing with you
the essence of love

You transform all
who are touched by you.
Mundane concerns,
troubles and sorrows
dissolve in your presence,
Bringing joy
to ruler and ruled
To peasant and king

You bewilder us
with your grace.
All evils
transform into
goodness.

You are the master alchemist.

You light the fire of love
in earth and sky
in heart and soul
of every being.

Through your loving
existence and nonexistence merge.
All opposites unite.
All that is profane
becomes sacred again.

Rumi's epitaph reads:
When we are dead, seek not our tomb on earth, find it in the hearts of men.

Brilliant, isn't it?
