It was a Monday, i was about to rush out of home, and as i grabbed my keys, i looked for the mobile, did'nt find it... fine... i have to stop looking now... will find it after i come back.
I looked for it everyday,
moving all the things,
checking all the shelves,
searching every nook and corner...
tearing the house apart ...
puzzled that i could not have just thrown it around the house...
certain that i did not lose it...
confident that i did not forget it somewhere outside...
but inspite of all my sincere efforts
my search was doomed.
The Myth of the Bermuda Triangle must surely exist in my surroundings. On a normal day, things disappear of their own will. Mostly they appear too. These are the games i play these days.
Coming back to the lost mobile in question...It was a Sony Ericsson gifted by my friends on my birthday... it had all the important numbers of all my school, college and Paris friends. It had travelled with me all over from Europe to North America to Asia over major cities and quaint old towns. Its hard to just get used to something new.
I tried to calm down and thought deeply a thousand times to figure out when was the last time i used it... to retrieve that memory.
My life was on hold for a couple of weeks... i even prayed to St Anthony who i call every now and then to restore my lost objects... this time St Anthony chose not to work his instant miracle.
"R" decided to take things in his hand...after 4 weeks. He went and bought a new SIM. Till then, i pushed everyday, reassuring him that i would eventually find it.
After i got the new SIM, with a shrug of resignation— i accepted the bitter fate... still hopeful that one day, when we'll move out of this home, i will find it.
"Que sera, sera." (What will be, will be.)
Yesterday evening we had to go out and it was chill outside, so i went and put on the winter jacket. When we reached our destination, as i stepped out of the car, i put my hands into the pockets for the warmth and i was speechless, i found something in there... my brain was confused, fearful and excited as my fingers felt something hard in there and for a fraction of a second, i "literally" passed out...
"Eureka, Eureka!" (I found it, I found it!). -Archimedes
I found my mobile... i yelled out in joy to R and he was beaming too. We rejoiced. It was the highlight of our day. I think the surest way to love anything is to realize that it can be lost.
Mr Bergman says, "The quickest way to find something you’ve lost or misplaced is to purchase another just like it.
I think it works :)
If you've lost something small in size, and you've searched everywhere, probably its a good idea to reach into ur closet and run through all the pockets available :))
Yesterday, on a Saturday night i found my mobile. Today, on a Sunday night, a long lost friend from college days found me after a decade!!!
